Chamomile
Soother Soap
This
soap is made with gentle, skin-softening oils of aloe, olive
and shea butter. Scientific studies have confirmed the effectiveness
of chamomile in skin care, and its reputed benefits in soothing,
anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. Chamomile can be steeped
in bathwater, or added to facial steams for it's calming qualities.
It is also used in hair rinses to bring out highlights in
brown hair.
NOTE:
If you have known allergies to ragweed, chrysanthemums, or
other member of the Compositae family, use chamomile with
caution.
This recipe uses 2 pounds of oils, and is appropriate for
either hot or cold process soapmaking. Chamomile flowers and
fragrance should be added after trace if using the cold process
method. If using the hot process method, add Chamomile flowers
and fragrance at the appropriate stage (usually after the
cook, before molding). When the Sodium Hydroxide is added
to the Chamomile tea, the mixture will become rust colored,
and have a distinctive odor. This is normal for the recipe,
and will not effect the outcome of the final product. The
finished soap will be a muted yellow to goldenrod color.
