Spring
is in the air!
Finally, I found little green shoots coming up in the new
herb garden I planted late last summer! The temperatures
are warming, the spring rains have arrived, the grass is
beginning to green, and the birds have commenced their early
spring rituals. After having dinner at my parents' home
a couple of evenings ago, I stepped out onto their patio,
and heard the welcome chorus of the first spring peepers.
I know I've told you this before, but my Aunt Frances always
says that spring is here for good once the spring peepers
have been frozen out three times.

I
always take the first week of April to rest, and spend some
time doing things that I enjoy. I usually cook a couple
of special meals for my family. I will probably bake some
cookies with my 13 year old son, who accuses me of never
making deserts. I also have plans to visit a couple of local
nurseries to look for a few more herbs for my new garden.
I'm hoping for at least a couple of nice sunny days to play
in the dirt, plant a couple of new herbs, and maybe a pot
or two of cool-weather loving pansies. Oh yes, I am definitely
ready for May flowers!

Net Soap Bags are a great way to keep your
soap dry between uses, and also help work
up plenty of fluffy lather in the shower.
Simply slip a bar of soap into the bag and
pull the drawstring tight. They also make
a nice addition to gift baskets. After some
searching, we were able to source a high quality,
durable soap sack, constructed with several
layers of netting. This is an introductory
item, available on a limited basis. If customer
response is favorable, we may choose to add
this item to our permanent product line. Available
in Blue, Green, or White.

In
a recent tour of customer web sites, I happened
across Sally
B's Skin Yummies. Sally has a wonderful
selection of mostly organic skin care products,
and some really cute gift ideas. I purchased
a Lip
Yummie of the Month Club for a close,
extremely stressed-out friend of mine, and
Organic
Peppermint Feet Treats. Sally mentioned
that her Gardener's
Healing Hand Butter is one of her best
selling products, and kindly sent along a
small jar for me to sample.
I
must say, Sally's packaging is phenomenal.
In her shopping cart, you are able to request
gift wrapping, and she will ship the gift
to the intended recipient. I had a gift wrapped
March Jelly Bean Lip Yummie sent to myself,
and it arrived in a cute little kraft box
tied up with a pink ribbon. Upon unwrapping
the gift box, I found my Lip Yummie in a clear
plastic pillow box packed with blue and white
paper shred. There was a label on the inside
lid of the box, decorated with a March jelly
bean theme. Also included in the box, is an
entertaining March trivia sheet, and a card
inscribed, "Congratulations, you are
the lucky recipient of a Lip Yummie of the
Month. This month's yummy flavor is Jelly
Bean!". Half the fun of this gift is
the process of unwrapping it. The attention
to detail provides a gift that will make the
recipient feel truly special. Pictured is
the October Candy Corn Lip Yummie of the Month.
My
favorite was the Organic Peppermint Feet Treats.
What a simple, yet creative idea! This shea
butter foot balm came packaged in a shrink
wrapped, metal tin with a beautiful, glossy
label. Inside, I found two quirky little feet.
I'm wrapping this gift back up, and sending
it on to my sister in Germany. I figured the
Feet Treats will make up for the cool designer
high heels that I sent her a couple of months
ago. |

My
hands are in and out of water quite a bit
in the shop, so in the evenings I use a moisturizer
with a pair of cotton gloves to keep the skin
on my hands from cracking. I used the Healing
Hand Butter with the gloves, as well as on
my feet with a pair of cotton socks, and it
was very effective. I can see why it's one
of Sally's best selling products.

In
addition to working at her shop, Sally
Larsen, nicknamed Sally B as a child,
works with a dermatologist's office
as a product expert (medical grade,
lab created products), providing input
on what products they carry, interacting
with the product reps, ordering, and
researching new products.
Sally
told me that a significant influencing
factor in how she came to making her
own products was the fact that she is
a cancer survivor with Lymphedema. "Skin
care became very important and I became
wary of the many chemicals that I was
seeing on products at the Derm office
and really everywhere."
Sally
B's Skin Yummies pledges five percent
of all Internet sales will be donated
to the charities, Camp Magik, which
provides a

nurturing environment for
children to express their grief and
begin to heal after the loss of a loved
one, and Beauty Becomes You Foundation

that embraces a holistic approach to addressing
senior hygiene needs. For more information,

The
answer to last month's question is Rosehip oil.
This was a little tricky because it was important
to note the difference between the vegetable form
of Vitamin A, Beta-Caroteen, and the animal based
form, Retinol. Retinol is usually found in liver,
salmon, and eggs. It is not found in plant sources,
which is what makes Roship oil very unique.
Karin
Drees of Kansas was the first to answer correctly,
and received 4 ounces of our Avocado
Mint Fragrance.
New
question: What is the origin of the name Illite,
the group of clays of which French Green Clay is
a member.
Be
the first to answer correctly, and you will receive
a pound of our
